Dengue Claims 7 More Lives in Bangladesh, 1,753 Hospitalised

Seven more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,753 patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country with the mosquito-borne disease.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures in its dengue-related press release issued by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room on Wednesday (September 16).

According to the report, 186 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal Division during the 24-hour period, while 177 were admitted in Chattogram Division.

Dhaka Division, excluding the city corporations, recorded 394 new hospital admissions. Dhaka North City Corporation reported 175 admissions and Dhaka South City Corporation 174.

Meanwhile, 349 patients were admitted in Khulna Division, 183 in Mymensingh, 153 in Rajshahi, 53 in Rangpur and nine in Sylhet.

With the latest deaths, the country's dengue death toll has reached 171 this year.

The total number of people hospitalised with dengue across Bangladesh during the year has risen to 56,916, according to the DGHS data.
