U.S. reality star Kim Kardashian has been awarded a symbolic €1 ($1.15) in damages from the thieves who robbed her at gunpoint inside a Paris hotel in 2016.
During the heist the disguised robbers bound Kardashian and stole millions in jewelry including a $4 million engagement ring from her then-husband and rapper Kanye West. Most of the stolen items remain unrecovered.
Kardashian previously stated she feared for her life during the ordeal, specifically requested this symbolic compensation in a civil case against the perpetrators who were convicted in May 2025.
The perpetrators dubbed the "Grandpa Robbers" in France due to their advanced age, wore ski masks and fake police uniforms to execute what was then the country's largest robbery in two decades.
The hotel’s receptionist was also held up during the incident was awarded approximately €110,000 in damages after initially seeking €500,000.
Testifying in court in 2025, Kardashian addressed the robbery's mastermind the 69-year-old Aomar Ait Khedache. She told him that while she forgave him, the trauma of the event would never disappear. Khedache was sentenced to three years in prison and seven others were also convicted for their roles in the crime.
Kardashian's legal team has not yet commented on the damages ruling.
