

A mobile court has sentenced two alleged brokers to jail for conducting brokerage activities at the Chattogram office of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The two men were detained during a drive conducted on Wednesday (September 16) at the BRTA Chatt Metro-2 and Chattogram District Circle offices in Nayapara, Hathazari. Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa of BRTA Mobile Court-12 handed down the sentences.
Fahmida Mustafa confirmed the drive and the court proceedings.
The convicted men are Mohammad Hasan, 45, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Moulana Akmal's residence in Natunpara, Hathazari, and Mohammad Imran, 47, son of Mohammad Abdul Malek of Bhuiya village in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali.
Hasan was sentenced to 25 days' simple imprisonment, while Imran received 20 days' simple imprisonment.
In separate drives at Bayezid Link Road and the intersection near Cantonment Public School and College, the same mobile court also filed 11 cases for violations of various provisions of the Road Transport Act, 2018.
A total of Tk 30,000 in fines was collected in those cases. A pickup truck was also detained from Bayezid Link Road during the operation.
