Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for the Mymensingh-10 (Gaffargaon) constituency, Akhtaruzzaman Bachchu, has pledged to transform Gaffargaon into a humane, modern and crime-free area if elected as a Member of Parliament.
Speaking to journalists, Bachchu said the people of Gaffargaon and Pagla police station areas have long been deprived of basic facilities, particularly in healthcare and employment. He said his priority would be human development, healthcare services, industrialisation and social justice to address these longstanding challenges.
Responding to a question, the BNP leader announced plans to establish a 200-bed modern hospital to ensure improved healthcare facilities for the underprivileged communities of Gaffargaon and Pagla. He said the initiative would reduce reliance on distant medical facilities and ensure quality treatment at the local level.
Bachchu also outlined his vision to develop Gaffargaon into a modern industrial hub. He said discussions have already been held with several industrial entrepreneurs to attract investment in the area. According to him, industrialisation would create employment opportunities for local youths and strengthen the regional economy.
On law and order, the BNP candidate said he aims to turn Gaffargaon into a terrorism-, extortion- and corruption-free area. He emphasised the need for collective efforts involving the administration, elected representatives and local residents to ensure sustainable peace and security. Addressing the issue of drug abuse, Bachchu described it as a serious social menace threatening the future of the younger generation. He said comprehensive initiatives would be taken to combat drug addiction, including the establishment of rehabilitation centres, youth employment programmes and increased engagement in sports and social activities.
He further said that if Almighty Allah accepts him as a servant of the people, he will work to establish a society based on equality, justice and fairness. Akhtaruzzaman Bachchu urged the voters of Gaffargaon and Pagla to cast their votes in favour of the BNP’s “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol in the upcoming election scheduled for February 12.
