BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday said Narayanganj faces serious challenges from corruption and drug trafficking, and called for unity to address the issues.
Speaking at an election rally at Kanchpur Balur ground in Sonargaon, Narayanganj around 2:30pm, he said there are about 20 locations in the city where drug trade takes place, and his party aims to bring them under control. “If corruption is controlled, the country can move forward,” he added.
Tarique Rahman also emphasised creating employment opportunities for the youth through domestic and foreign training programs, saying this would help address unemployment.
The rally was presided over by Narayanganj District BNP Convener Professor Mamun Mahmud. Several party leaders and candidates attended, including Dhaka Divisional Co-Organizing Secretary and Narayanganj-2 candidate Nazrul Islam Azad, Narayanganj-1 candidate Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu, Narayanganj-3 candidate Azharul Islam Mannan, and District Joint Convener Mashukul Islam Rajib, along with other local leaders and activists.
