Khaleda Zia Declared VIP Status Under Special Security Force Act

The government has officially declared Begum Khaleda Zia, the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister, a 'Very Important Person' (VIP).

A notification confirming this designation was issued today (December 1st). The order was signed by Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury, Director General (Administration) at the office of the chief adviser, following instructions received from the President.

This VIP status is immediately effective and was granted under Section 2(a) of the Special Security Force (SSF) Act, 2021.

The announcement comes as Khaleda Zia continues to receive medical treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for various age-related health complications.
