MPO Teachers Get 15% House Rent Allowance from July

MPO teachers and employees at private educational institutions will now receive a house rent allowance equal to 15 percent of their basic salary, effective today (July 1).

The increase marks the second phase of a government plan approved by the Finance Ministry on October 21 last year. Initially, the allowance was raised to 7.5 percent (minimum Tk 2,000) in November 2025. With the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year today, an additional 7.5 percent has been added to reach the full 15 percent target.

Sources from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) confirmed the rollout is final, clearing up any previous uncertainties. Teachers and staff will see the increased rate reflected in their July paychecks. The Finance Ministry previously noted that the staggered implementation was designed to accommodate government budget constraints.
