


Seven more children died from suspected measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 am on Sunday, bringing the total death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 620.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the latest figures in its Sunday bulletin, noting that the newest fatalities occurred in Dhaka (four), Chattogram (one), Mymensingh (one), and Khulna (one).During the same 24-hour period, health officials recorded 1,287 new infections.
This includes 66 confirmed measles cases and 1,221 children presenting with suspected symptoms.Since the outbreak escalated on March 15, the disease has claimed 620 lives in total—comprising 91 confirmed measles deaths and 529 fatalities linked to suspected symptoms.
According to the DGHS, 79,120 children have exhibited symptoms of the highly contagious virus since mid-March. Hospitals nationwide have admitted 64,263 suspected patients so far, with 60,084 successfully recovering and returning home.
