Four children exhibiting measles-like symptoms have died in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours though no confirmed measles fatalities were recorded during this period. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) verified these figures in a press release on Sunday.

These recent fatalities bring the total number of child deaths linked to the current outbreak to 844 since March 15. Of these 96 children died from confirmed measles infections, while the remaining 748 died while showing suspected symptoms.

In the last 24 hours alone health authorities recorded 115 new confirmed measles infections and 1,022 suspected cases. To manage the ongoing crisis hospitals nationwide admitted 946 new pediatric patients while discharging 886.

The broader outbreak data highlights a significant public health challenge. Since mid-March the DGHS has logged 16,295 confirmed measles cases alongside 130,083 suspected infections. The health system has absorbed a massive caseload, with 112,620 children requiring hospital admission over the past few months. Fortunately, 108,283 of these patients have successfully recovered and returned home.
