The government has launched a nationwide initiative to provide eggs, meat, and fish at subsidized rates to nearly 10 lakh low-income families during Ramadan.

State Minister for Fisheries, Livestock, Agriculture, and Food, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, inaugurated the sales program today at the Livestock Research Institute in Dhaka. He stated that the move is designed to stabilize market prices and shield general consumers from artificial price hikes.

Under this 26-day program (running until the 25th of Ramadan), mobile sales vans will distribute essential items at the following rates.

Beef Tk 650 per kg, Dressed Broiler Chicken Tk 245 per kg Eggs Tk 8 per piece, Pasteurized Milk Tk 80 per liter

The Minister noted that the program aims to curb the suffering caused by dishonest traders who inflate prices during the holy month. He also announced that the government plans to expand this initiative and will soon introduce Family Cards, Agriculture Cards, and Health Cards to fulfill key electoral promises.
