


In a major security sweep, the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has expelled 330 individuals from the city and banned their re-entry until further notice. The move aims to maintain public order and protect lives and property within the metropolitan area.
The order, issued Saturday (January 17) afternoon, was signed by CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz. The expulsion was carried out under the authority granted by Sections 40, 41, and 43 of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1978, which allows for the removal of persons deemed a threat to peace.
High-Profile Figures Among the Expelled The 12-page list of 330 individuals includes several high-profile political figures, former lawmakers, and members of banned or controversial organizations. Notable names on the list include: Former Mayor: AJM Nasir Uddin, Former Minister: Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Former MP: Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Notorious Figures: Alleged top terrorist Sajjad Ali, former councillors Mobarak Ali, Ashraful Alam, and others.
The list also features leaders and activists from the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League, alongside various individuals identified as professional criminals or "miscreants" with aliases such as "Hamka" Nur Alam, "Galkata" Roni, and "Astril" Milon.
The CMP public notice clarified that the entry and stay of these individuals within city limits are strictly prohibited. The police department warned that any violation of this order would result in immediate and severe legal action.
Commissioner Aziz emphasized that these operations would continue as part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety of Chattogram's residents.
