Pakistan has reportedly been selected by Iran and the United States to host the signing of a crucial memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at formalizing a 60-day ceasefire extension and reviving negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program.
According to the Pakistani news outlet Right Now, both Washington and Tehran have agreed to finalize the document in Islamabad. Western media outlets, including CBS, indicate that while the preliminary framework is complete and acknowledged by the White House, it still awaits final approval from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The proposed agreement seeks to solidify a fragile truce following a 40-day regional conflict earlier this year. Diplomatic sources suggest that the 60-day window will be used to establish rules for a broader geopolitical settlement, including the phased reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and fresh talks on Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpiles.
Neither Washington nor Tehran has issued an official public confirmation of the venue.
