An attack was carried out on the personal residence of United States Vice President J.D. Vance in Ohio late Sunday night, causing property damage and prompting a multi-agency investigation. The incident was confirmed on Monday (January 5) by CNN, citing official sources.
According to authorities, the attack resulted in damage to the windows of Vance’s home. Local media images showed visible breakage to the property. Following the incident, an adult male suspect was taken into custody. However, his identity has not yet been disclosed.
The US Secret Service stated that Vice President Vance and his family were not present at the residence at the time of the attack, as they had left the city earlier. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the suspect was arrested on charges related to vandalism and property damage, including breaking exterior windows of the private residence.
CNN reported that the attack occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday. The Secret Service is currently working in coordination with the Cincinnati Police Department and the US Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate charges.
A federal law enforcement official told CNN that investigators are examining whether the suspect specifically targeted Vice President Vance or his family. Meanwhile, a White House official confirmed that the Vance family was already away when the incident took place.
Authorities have assured that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released once the probe advances.
