Legendary Hollywood actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood has retired, according to his son, musician Kyle Eastwood. Speaking to an audience during a recent concert in Amiens, France, Kyle shared that his father has stepped away from a career spanning more than six decades. "I have many fond memories of working with him.
Now he's retired, he's 95 years old. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films," Kyle said. While the Oscar-winning filmmaker has not formally announced his retirement, these remarks suggest his acclaimed 2024 film Juror #2 will serve as his final project. Eastwood, who turned 96 on May 31, rose to global prominence in the 1960s through Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). He cemented his status as a screen icon with classics like Dirty Harry (1971) and Heartbreak Ridge (1986).
Beyond his acting career, Eastwood built a reputation as one of the industry's most respected directors. Known for consistently completing projects on time and within budget, his decades-long partnership with Warner Bros. delivered cinematic triumphs such as Unforgiven (1992), Million Dollar Baby (2004), and American Sniper (2014).
He remained highly prolific over the last decade, directing Sully (2016), The 15:17 to Paris (2018), The Mule (2018), Richard Jewell (2019), and Cry Macho (2021). His latest film, Juror #2, earned a stellar 93% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes despite a limited theatrical release. Though there has been no official farewell, Kyle Eastwood's comments indicate that one of Hollywood's most enduring and remarkable careers has quietly come to a close.
