A Tennessee judge on Tuesday finalized the divorce of Oscar-winning actor Nicole Kidman and Grammy-winning country star Keith Urban, ending a nearly two-decade marriage that made them one of entertainment's most enduring power couples.
Judge Stephanie J. Williams dissolved the marriage during a hearing in Nashville, citing "irreconcilable differences" that made continuing the union impossible. According to court filings, the couple had already reached a comprehensive agreement regarding their assets and the custody of their two teenage daughters.
Kidman will serve as the primary residential parent. Neither party will receive spousal or child support. Their joint property and assets will be divided roughly equally. The family is expected to remain based in Nashville.
The split comes as a shock to the public, as the pair were frequent fixtures on Hollywood and Nashville red carpets for 20 years. Kidman originally filed for divorce in September, but the transition appears to have been meticulously planned; all legal issues were settled the same day as the initial filing.
The couple, both 58, met in Los Angeles in 2005 and wed in Sydney the following year. This was the first marriage for Urban and the second for Kidman, who was previously married to Tom Cruise.
On January 6, 2026, Judge Stephanie J. Williams signed the final decree dissolving the marriage of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban following the mandatory 90-day waiting period required by Tennessee law.
