Nurul Islam Nayan Wins Bhola-4 Seat by Big Margin

BNP candidate Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan has been elected Member of Parliament from Bhola-4 in the 13th National Parliament election, securing victory by more than one lakh votes.

Nayan, the central general secretary of Jubo Dal, won his first parliamentary seat with 189,351 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Daripalla, received 81,437 votes. The final margin of victory stood at 107,914 votes.

District Returning Officer Dr Shamim Rahman announced the unofficial results at around 4:00am on Friday at the Bhola Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Other candidates in the constituency included Islamic Movement nominee Abul Mukarram Md Kamal Uddin, who secured 24,935 votes, and Jatiya Party candidate Md Mizanur Rahman, who received 545 votes. Independent and smaller party candidates received fewer than 300 votes each.

The Bhola-4 constituency has a total of 520,080 registered voters. Of them, 303,609 cast their ballots, marking a turnout of 60.48%.

Among the votes cast, 296,887 were valid, while 6,422 were declared invalid.
