


Law enforcement agencies have turned the capital into a high-security zone today, February 11, ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections and concurrent referendum scheduled for tomorrow.
Checkpoints have been established at major intersections, including Shahbagh, Dhanmondi, and Uttara. Joint forces—comprising the Police, RAB, Army, and BGB—are conducting extensive searches of vehicles and individuals to prevent sabotage or the transport of illegal weapons.
Shahbagh & Surrounding Areas Police checkpoints are active at Jatiya Press Club, Chankharpul, and Palashi. Shahbagh OC Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed that while searches are rigorous, no subversive materials have been found so far.
Dhanmondi & Gulshan Dhanmondi OC Saiful Islam reported searches at Science Lab and Jigatola. Late Tuesday, RAB-1 also conducted operations on the Gulshan-Badda Link Road.
Uttara Sector DC (Uttara Division) Md. Shahriar Ali noted that special operations have been intensified across six police stations within his division.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman stated that security measures will remain in place until the electoral process is complete. Major Gazi Mehedi Hasan of the joint forces assured the public that the deployment aims to ensure voters can reach polling stations safely and return home without fear.
Under the current interim government led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, nearly one million law enforcers are deployed nationwide to manage this historic election, which features a white ballot for parliamentary seats and a pink ballot for constitutional reforms.
