The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the domestic market, lowering the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.
According to a BAJUS notice issued at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 6, the new prices took effect from 12:15 pm the same day.
BAJUS said the latest adjustment follows a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market. Based on current market conditions, the association revised the retail prices, including VAT.
Under the new rates, 22-carat gold now costs Tk 225,290 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 215,142, 18-carat gold at Tk 184,757, and traditional-method gold at Tk 150,932 per bhori.
The latest reduction comes just days after BAJUS increased gold prices on July 3, when the price of 22-carat gold rose by Tk 4,374 to Tk 228,556 per bhori, including VAT.
This year, BAJUS has revised gold prices 87 times. Of those adjustments, prices increased 43 times, decreased 43 times, while one revision was made due to a VAT adjustment.
