Two ships carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port, with at least three more gas-laden vessels scheduled to reach in the coming days.
Port Secretary Syed Refaet Hamim confirmed the development. He said the vessel DL Lily arrived from Malaysia on Saturday night (April 11), while Gas Carriage brought LPG from India. The ships are currently anchored at the Charlie and Bravo points of the outer anchorage.
Another vessel, Kongtong, is expected to arrive on Sunday carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States. Paul will bring LPG from Malaysia on Monday.
In addition, Maran Gas Hydra is scheduled to arrive with LNG from Australia on April 15, followed by Lobito, another LNG carrier, on April 18.
The government continues to import oil and gas from multiple countries to stabilise supply amid the ongoing global energy crisis linked to the Middle East conflict.
