


The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken action against Faisal Karim Masud and his information technology (IT) firm by freezing all of their bank accounts. This move, confirmed by a senior official of the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) on Sunday morning, is part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting of Dhaka-8 hopeful and Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
Faisal Karim Masud, a member of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and the owner of Apple Soft IT Limited. The NBR's Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) ordered the freezing of all bank accounts belonging to Masud and his IT firm.
The action was taken "in connection with the shooting" of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, as part of the ongoing investigation into the attack.
Hadi, the Inqilab Moncho Convenor and an independent Dhaka-8 candidate, was shot on Friday afternoon in front of the Bijoynagar water tank in Dhaka.
Police reported that the assailant, riding pillion on a motorcycle, opened fire on Hadi while he was traveling in a moving auto-rickshaw.
Hadi was struck in the head and remains "critically injured." He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for emergency surgery and is now receiving specialized care at Evercare Hospital, where his condition is still classified as critical.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) previously detained Abdul Hannan, the suspected owner of the motorcycle used in the attack, and handed him over to Paltan Police Station.
A reward of Tk 5 million has been announced by the Home Advisor for information leading to the prime suspect's arrest.
