Tensions flared in Chattogram on Saturday as students and the public joined the "March for Hadi," demanding swift justice for the murder of Sharif Osman bin Hadi. Hadi, a prominent figure in the July-August uprising and spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha, died in December 2025 after being shot in the capital.
The march began at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque at noon, winding through the city's key points, including WASA, Dampara, and GEC intersections. The procession concluded at the Gate No. 2 area. Protesters chanted slogans calling for national sovereignty and an end to political "slavery," vowing to continue their struggle until the perpetrators are brought to trial.
A diverse crowd comprising Inqilab Mancha activists, students, and common citizens—participated in the demonstration. Leaders at the rally emphasized that Hadi was a "fearless soldier" of the revolution and that his assassination was an attempt to silence the voices of the uprising.
Hadi was shot in Dhaka's Paltan area on December 12, 2025, and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Singapore. His death has sparked nationwide protests and remains a central point of political discourse as the country prepares for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
