


Police in Pabna have arrested three men accused of raping a housewife in her rented home of filming the assault and later demanding money to prevent the video from being shared online.
The victim filed a case at Pabna Sadar Police Station on Thursday under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
According to the case statement, the incident took place around 11:30 am on July 27 at a rented house in the Mansurabad residential area of Pabna Sadar upazila. The accused entered the home and intimidated the victim and her family. One of them locked the victim's mother and child in a separate room before assaulting her, while the other two recorded the act. The trio then threatened to release the footage online unless paid Tk 110,000, extorting the amount from the victim's mother before fleeing.
Following the complaint, Pabna's District Detective Branch (DB), along with IT and intelligence units, launched a raid and arrested three suspects.
The accused have been identified as Md. Mahamudul Hasan Nasim (23) of Kankarkata village Md. Sakib Hossain (21) of Kabirpur village and Tarique Rahman (22) also of Kankarkata village all residents of unions under Pabna Sadar upazila.
DB Officer-in-Charge Rashidul Islam confirmed that a case has been filed under relevant sections of the law and that all three accused have been sent to jail.
