Khulna Civil Surgeon Warns of Action Against Private Clinics Violating Health Regulations

Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr. Mosha. Mahfuza Khatun has warned that strict legal action will be taken against private clinics and diagnostic centres that fail to comply with government healthcare regulations. She also directed every private healthcare facility in Paikgacha Upazila to establish and maintain a fully functional Normal Delivery Room to improve maternal healthcare services.

The warning came on Saturday (July 11) during her inspection of Paikgacha Upazila Health Complex and a subsequent emergency meeting with owners of private clinics and diagnostic centres.

Upon her arrival at the Upazila Health Complex, Dr. Mahfuza Khatun was welcomed by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ahsanara Binte Ahmed.

During the inspection, she visited the hospital's emergency department, diet room, operation theatre (OT), pathology department, VIA room, and outpatient department. She closely reviewed cleanliness and overall service delivery and instructed hospital officials to further improve healthcare standards.

The Civil Surgeon also met with patients admitted to the hospital, inquired about their treatment, and sought their feedback regarding the quality of healthcare services. Following the inspection, she held a meeting with hospital officials and staff to discuss ways to enhance patient care.

Speaking at the emergency meeting with owners of private clinics and diagnostic centres, Dr. Mahfuza Khatun emphasized that quality healthcare must be ensured through strict adherence to government regulations.

"To provide quality healthcare services at people's doorsteps, private clinics and diagnostic centres must operate within the established rules and regulations alongside government hospitals. There is no scope for violating these standards," she said.

She further instructed all private clinics in the upazila to keep Normal Delivery Rooms operational and adequately equipped, warning that any institution failing to comply would face legal consequences.
