


A tree plantation campaign has been launched in Lohagara, Narail, with the theme 'Build a green Bangladesh for the next generation.'
Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser inaugurated the program on Saturday afternoon on the west bank of the Nabaganga River, near the Panchuria Bridge under Mallikpur Union. The initiative is jointly organized by the Upazila Administration and the Social Forestry Garden Center.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Acting Upazila Agriculture Officer Munmun Saha, Lohagara Government Pilot High School Headmaster SM Hayatuzzaman, local journalists, forest department staff, and local beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, UNO Shammi Kaiser emphasized that planting trees is vital to combatting climate change, maintaining ecological balance, and ensuring a livable world for future generations. She noted that the government’s target to plant 250 million trees over five years will significantly safeguard the country's environment.
A total of 35,000 saplings of various species will be planted across Lohagara Upazila under this project. The campaign kicked off on Saturday with the planting of the first 50 saplings.
