


Two people were killed in separate violent incidents in Pabna municipal area on Monday.
In the first incident, 53-year-old Ali Hossain was shot dead by unidentified assailants in front of his child. The shooting occurred near the Jamia Ashrafia Madrasa around 7:00 pm. According to witnesses, Hossain was dropping his child off at the madrasa when attackers, who had been lying in wait, opened fire. He died on the spot. Police sources indicated that Hossain was reportedly a former member of an extremist group.
Earlier in the day, around 4:00 pm, 24-year-old Monirul Islam was stabbed to death behind the Pabna Central Bus Terminal following an altercation. Monirul was a student at Pabna Government Edward College. Witnesses stated that an argument between Monirul and a youth named Rakib escalated, leading Rakib to stab him. Locals rescued Monirul and rushed him to Pabna General Hospital. He later died en route to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam confirmed both incidents. He stated that Ali Hossain's body was recovered and sent to the morgue for an autopsy, while Monirul's body was being transported back from Rajshahi.
Police have arrested Rakib in connection with the stabbing and necessary legal actions are underway for both cases.
