Engineer Selim Jane Alam Appointed New Chittagong WASA MD

Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Chittagong WASA on a one-year contractual basis.

The appointment was confirmed on Thursday (May 21) through a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration, signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Golam Rabbani by order of the President.

According to the notification, the appointment was made under the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Act, 1996 (amended) and the ordinance issued on October 23, 2024. His one-year tenure begins from his date of joining.

As a mandatory condition of the contract, Engineer Selim must sever all professional, business, and employment ties with any public, private, or semi-government organization before taking office.

The position was previously held by Engineer AKM Fazlullah, who served as MD for 15 consecutive years starting in 2009. The interim government cancelled his contractual appointment and removed him from the post on October 30, 2024.
