A human chain protest procession, and memorandum submission were held in Bhola on Thursday to demand justice for the rape and murder of a young child, Ramisha, in Dhaka's Mirpur. The program was organized by the Bhola district branch of the 'National Student Power' in front of the Bhola Press Club.
Students from various educational institutions and members of the general public joined the demonstration. Among the speakers were Jagran Foundation leader Shahnaz Begum Chinu, organizer Mir Mosharef Ami, NCP leader Sharif Hossain, and Bhola district National Student Power leader Rashed Hossain.
The speakers expressed deep outrage, stating that the brutal incident in Dhaka’s Pallabi has shaken the conscience of the nation. They demanded the maximum punishment for those involved through a speedy trial tribunal.
Highlighting growing concerns over the safety of women and children, the organizers warned that ordinary students would launch a stricter, nationwide movement if the state fails to ensure security and deliver exemplary punishment to the criminals.
Following the human chain, a protest procession marched through the city's main streets before a memorandum was submitted to the Bhola Deputy Commissioner.
