


A local BNP leader, Jafar Pramanik (45), died after being electrocuted while threshing paddy in Sadullapur upazila, Gaibandha.
The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Paika village, under Khorddakomarpur union.
Jafar Pramanik was the Joint Secretary of Ward No. 7 BNP in Khorddakomarpur union and a well-known cloth merchant. He was the son of the late Haider Pramanik.
According to local sources, the incident happened when Jafar attempted to connect the power supply to start a paddy threshing machine. He was accidentally electrocuted during the process. Villagers rushed him to the Palashbari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician pronounced him dead.
Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Habibul Islam confirmed the incident.
