Miscreants brutally hacked a woman to death and critically injured her eight-year-old son at their home in Bhola Sadar upazila late Friday night.

The deceased, Nasima Begum, 35, was the wife of Al Amin, an expatriate working in the Middle East. The incident occurred in Ward No. 6 of Shibpur Union, where Nasima had been living in an under-construction house with her son, Abir.

According to police and local sources, the attackers entered the house while the victims were asleep. Nasima died on the spot from multiple stab wounds, while her son was found seriously injured. Neighbors discovered the scene around 7:00 AM on Saturday and rushed Abir to Bhola Sadar Hospital.

"We visited the spot and sent the body to the morgue for an autopsy. We are investigating the motive and identifying the suspects," said Muhammad Monirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station. No arrests have been made as of Saturday afternoon.
