


A rally, discussion meeting and free medical camp were organized in Shantiganj to mark International Women’s Day, with financial support from the World Bank and the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation.
The programme was held on Sunday (March 8) at 11:00 am at Abdur Rashid High School in Shantiganj upazila.
The event was organized by Hijal Poribesh Club under the Sustainable Micro Enterprise and Resilience Transformation (SMART) Project implemented by Friends in Village Development Bangladesh.
A rally was held first, followed by a discussion meeting in the school hall room. The meeting was chaired by the headmaster of Abdur Rashid High School, Sukhmoy Das, and moderated by SMART Project RECP Officer Tanvir Ahmed.
SMART Project Officer Zahir Uddin Mohammad Firoz delivered the welcome speech.
After the discussion, doctors from the Shantiganj Upazila Health Complex organized a free medical camp on the school premises in Dargapasha. Poor local men and women received free health check-ups, medical certificates and medicines provided by the organizers.
SMART project officials, journalists, school teachers and local community representatives also attended the programme.
