Huge protest and human chain by Santhia residents demanding maintenance of single parliamentary seat

A huge protest procession and human chain have been held demanding maintenance of single parliamentary seat in 68 Pabna-1 (Santhia) of the National Parliament and declaration of those conspiring against the single seat as national traitors.

On Wednesday (December 17), around 11 am, a protest procession started from in front of Santhia Government Girls High School and circled the main road of the municipal headquarters and formed an hour-long human chain in front of the upazila under the banner of Santhia residents. People from all walks of life turned up in droves.

The speakers at the human chain said, "A sinister group is conspiring to get a single seat in Santhia Upazila. They are trying to take Bera with Santhia again. A few people do not want Santhia Upazila to have a single seat. We want to say in a strong voice that such brokers will not have a place in Santhia. The people of Santhia will not accept the conspiracy to get a single seat. The conspirators must be immediately recognized as national traitors. They must also be declared undesirable on the land of Santhia.

He further said in his speech that those who are hoarding black money and spending it in the courts, the people of Santhia will throw you out for life. You will have no place in this land anymore. He warned of a larger movement if the single seat is not maintained.

‎Presided over by Abdus Samad Mollah, President of Santhia Bazar Merchants Association and moderated by Mahdi Hasan, Shikhan Mollah, Maulana Abdul Quddus, former principal Abdul Malek, acting president of Santhia Press Club Faruk Hossain, assistant professor of Jorgachha Degree College Abdul Hai, student leader Nazrul Islam, former student leader Abul Kalam Azad, Bakul Hossain, Aslam Uddin Khan and others spoke.
