


The player auction for the ESDM Premier League (EPL-26) took place at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) in a lively and festive atmosphere. Sponsored by Agrani Bank PLC and Deshbandhu Group, with support from the ESDM Club, the colorful event saw participation from five franchise teams.
The grand auction ceremony was held on Thursday, 13 November, at 4:00 PM in the TSC Conference Room of the university. The event was organized and coordinated by the students from the 2021–22 session (Nirvishonk–13) of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Disaster Management.
Professor Dr. Md. Mohsin Hossain Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, was the chief guest at the event. Also in attendance were Md. Faisal, Chairman of the Department of Disaster Resilience and Engineering; Mawa Siddika, Chairman of the Department of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation; Professor Dr. Roman Kumar Biswas from the Department of Disaster Resilience and Engineering; Associate Professor Md. Tariqul Islam from the Department of Environmental Science; Assistant Professor Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam Sajib from the Department of Disaster Risk Management; and Assistant Professor Md. Rasheduzzaman from the Department of Emergency Management. Their presence added to the liveliness of the auction.
With the formal announcement by the chief guest, the auction activities commenced. Representatives from the five franchise teams engaged in a competitive bidding session, generating an exciting and dynamic atmosphere under the guidance of the student organizers. The main tournament is set to kick off in the first week of December, promising to bring even more excitement, competition, and cricket enthusiasm among the students.
In his address, the chief guest Professor Dr. Mohsin Hossain Khan remarked, “Sports are not just a form of entertainment; they are essential for mental development, fostering teamwork, leadership skills, discipline, and resilience among students.For our faculty students specifically, sports hold great importance since physical fitness, rapid decision-making, and teamwork are crucial in disaster management. He also expressed, "I genuinely appreciate the organizing committee (Nirvishonk-13) for effectively coordinating this event. Without your commitment, effort, and collaboration, such an arrangement would not have been feasible."
