Starlink gained approximately 1,800 active subscribers (devices) in Bangladesh within five months of beginning operations.
Starlink received its operating license on April 29 and officially launched on May 20 this year. The article states that within five months of beginning operations, Starlink had around 1,800 active devices in use across the country, according to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Despite the relatively low initial active device count with an additional 2,500 pending orders facing logistical delays Starlink is strengthening its local infrastructure. The BTRC has verified the installation of three key gateways in Gazipur (managed by FIDC), Rajshahi (managed by Bondstein), and Jashore, with work continuing at the Jashore site.
Starlink has also secured its corporate and government distribution channels by signing $2.5 million reseller deals with Robi Axiata PLC and Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL). Robi, one of the resellers, confirmed that while uptake is at an expected level, many orders are pending due to logistical challenges. The company offers two main packages: the Tk 6,000 "Starlink Residential" plan and the Tk 4,200 "Residential Lite" plan.
