The annual Hajj pilgrimage officially began on Monday as more than 1.5 million international worshippers gathered in the tent city of Mina to prepare for the spiritual climax of the journey.

Saudi authorities confirmed that the massive influx of global pilgrims into Mina was completed smoothly, ahead of their movement to the plains of Mount Arafat on Tuesday.

Flawless Execution of Security and Traffic Plans

At a press conference in Mecca, Saudi Interior Ministry spokesperson Talal bin Shalhoub announced the successful completion of the initial phase of the Hajj security plan.

"The first phase was implemented smoothly and in full coordination with all participating state agencies," Bin Shalhoub stated. He noted that the transfer of over a million worshippers to Mina achieved high traffic flow efficiency. Field teams are now preparing for the next logistically complex phase: moving the massive crowds from Mina to the plains of Arafat on Tuesday morning.

Rituals of Faith and Unity

The pilgrims will spend Monday night in Mina in prayer and reflection. The six-day Hajj season follows a strict chronological sequence of deep spiritual significance to Muslims worldwide, symbolizing unity and commemorating the trials of Prophet Abraham and his family.

The core rituals include:

The Standing at Arafat (Tuesday): The pinnacle of Hajj where pilgrims pray for forgiveness.

Muzdalifah: An overnight stay under the open sky to collect pebbles.

The Symbolic Stoning: Casting pebbles at pillars in Mina to reject evil.

The Farewell Circumambulation: The final circling of the Kaaba at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

Saudi authorities deployed extensive medical, logistical, and safety services across the holy sites to facilitate the massive gathering.
