BNP Standing Committee member and newly elected MP from Cox's Bazar-1 constituency Salahuddin Ahmed said, "We are committed and committed to uphold the July National Charter as a document of political compromise."
Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters after the first meeting of the BNP parliamentary party at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today, Tuesday, after 12:30 pm. The meeting was held after the newly elected BNP candidates took oath as MPs.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting. Tarique Rahman was unanimously elected as the leader of the parliament and the prime minister in the meeting.
Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters that Tarique Rahman gave two instructions to the party's MPs in the meeting. They are - no MP will take duty-free car facilities, and will not take government plots.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, the change has started from today. In this country, it will no longer be the case that he will be above everyone just by becoming a member of parliament.
The newly elected members of parliament of the BNP did not take the oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council. Regarding the reason for not taking the oath, Salahuddin Ahmed said, according to the referendum verdict, to reflect the will of the people, we must first go to parliament. The necessary laws and the constitution must be amended in parliament.
According to the existing constitution, the CEC does not have the authority to administer the oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council, said Salahuddin Ahmed. He said that the CEC did not 'approach' them to take the oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council. And they did not take the oath either.
This member of the BNP Standing Committee said, 'Everything needs to be run constitutionally. Whatever we have come so far, we have come following the constitutional procedure. We will also run this state constitutionally in the future.'
