For the fourth consecutive day, activists from Inqilab Moncho have paralyzed Dhaka’s Shahbagh intersection, intensifying their demands for justice following the murder of the organization’s convenor, Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The demonstration, which began around 2:00 PM on Monday, quickly escalated into a full blockade by 2:20 PM. The sit-in has brought traffic in the heart of the capital to a complete standstill, affecting major routes connecting to the city's hospitals and commercial hubs.
The protesters have issued a 24-day ultimatum to the authorities to meet four primary demands the Identification and arrest of all individuals involved in Hadi’s murder, including planners and those providing shelter to the suspects. The immediate cancellation of work permits for all Indian nationals currently residing in Bangladesh.
Filing a formal case against India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) if the neighboring country refuses to extradite suspects allegedly hiding there. An investigation into "fascist forces" allegedly embedded within civil and military intelligence services who the group claims are orchestrating unrest.
As of Monday evening, the blockade remains in place. Law enforcement presence has been scaled up in the area to prevent further escalation, though no major clashes have been reported. Commuters are advised to avoid the Shahbagh area as gridlock continues to spread to neighboring zones like Banglamotor and TSC.
