BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated today that those who are afraid of losing in the upcoming election are the ones conspiring to postpone it.
"We do not comprehend concepts like referendums or PR nor do the citizens. What the populace understands is elections. This election holds immense significance for our nation," he remarked while speaking at a views-exchange meeting at the Ruhia High School ground here.
Fakhrul continued: "For the last sixteen years, the country has been devoid of a genuine election, nor has there been a parliament elected by the people. This election is our opportunity to restore stability to the nation." The BNP secretary general emphasized that the residents of Ruhia have consistently backed the "Sheaf of Paddy" (BNP’s electoral symbol).
Thus, if the BNP comes to power, it will initiate measures for comprehensive development in Ruhia, including enhancements to roads and infrastructure.
Characterizing this election as potentially the final one of his life, Mirza Fakhrul urged the citizens to cast their votes for the sheaf of paddy.
"The people are the rightful owners of this nation. That is why the BNP has always championed the rights of the people and democracy and will persist in that fight moving forward," he stated.
He added that the sole method to navigate the current national crisis is through a free and fair election. To reclaim the people's voting rights, unity is essential, and everyone must vote for the "Sheaf of Paddy," he asserted.
He also noted that the BNP has submitted a proposal to the interim government for a Tk 350 crore "Integrated Development Project" aimed at the neglected and underdeveloped Rangpur region, under which road and infrastructure development from Thakurgaon to Panchagarh has already commenced.
If the BNP secures the next government, this development initiative will be significantly expanded, he promised. The meeting was chaired by Abdul Jabbar, the President of Ruhia Thana BNP, and was attended by several notable figures including Mirza Faisal Amin, the District BNP President, General Secretary Poigam Ali, and Sadar Upazila President Abdul Hamid, among others.
