The swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet will be completed by February 18, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid confirmed today. Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Saturday, the Secretary noted that the government expects the process to conclude within the next three to four days.
"We are fully prepared to facilitate the oath-taking at any time, whether it is scheduled for tomorrow or three days from now," Dr. Rashid stated regarding the administration's readiness.
Addressing questions on who will conduct the ceremony, the Cabinet Secretary explained that the Parliament Secretariat manages the formal process. He outlined that while the Speaker or Deputy Speaker typically administers the oath, several legal alternatives exist. If they are unavailable, a government nominee, the Chief Justice, or the Chief Election Commissioner may step in.
The ceremony is expected to host approximately 1,000 guests, including domestic dignitaries and foreign representatives.
