


The dengue fever outbreak in Bangladesh has seen a fresh surge, with five more fatalities and 792 new patients hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin released on Saturday.
The total number of hospitalisations from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease this year has climbed to 83,858. In the first 15 days of November alone, 13,996 patients have been admitted, and 53 lives have been claimed by dengue.
The total death toll for the year has reached 331. All five of the latest reported deaths occurred in hospitals within the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area.
October remains the deadliest month of the year so far, recording the highest monthly death toll with 80 fatalities and the highest number of admissions with 22,520 cases. This was followed by September with 76 deaths and 15,866 admissions.
