The ongoing war between the United States, Israel, and Iran has sharply intensified, with US President Donald Trump warning of expanded attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure, including bridges and power plants.
The US carried out a major airstrike on Iran’s largest suspension bridge (B1) linking Tehran and Karaj. The $400 million structure, not yet operational, was split in half after being struck twice. At least 8 people were killed and 95 injured, according to Iranian state media. Trump publicly claimed responsibility, sharing footage and warning that “much more to follow” if Iran does not agree to a settlement.
Trump escalated rhetoric by threatening to target Iran’s electricity generation network, potentially affecting millions. He stated the US has “not even started destroying what’s left in Iran.”
Confirmed strikes also hit a missile base in Isfahan, a strategic location tied to Iran’s nuclear program. Reports suggest Iran may have relocated 60% enriched uranium stockpiles there. Speculation continues about a potential US raid to seize nuclear material, though Trump dismissed its urgency.
Iran reported strikes on the Pasteur Medical Institute in Tehran, while Israel claimed to have hit Revolutionary Guard financial infrastructure. The conflict has included over 15,000 bombing raids, causing 1,900 deaths and 20,000 injuries (Estimates from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies).
Iran’s Response
Iran vowed “more crushing and destructive” retaliation, stating the war will continue until its enemies face “permanent regret and surrender.” Iranian air defenses reportedly shot down a second US F-35 fighter jet, though Washington has not confirmed this.
Regional Spillover
Attacks have expanded across the Gulf region and Drone strike hit Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi refinery. Saudi Arabia intercepted multiple drones. Satellite imagery showed smoke at Iran’s Qeshm Island, a key strategic point near the Strait of Hormuz.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned the world is “on the edge of a wider war”, urging immediate de-escalation.
