A fire broke out in an air-conditioned coach of the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express in Rajasthan, India, early Sunday morning. However, all passengers were rescued safely and no injuries were reported.
According to NDTV, the fire started around 5:15 am near Vikramgarh Alot station in the Kota division.
Railway officials said the affected coach, identified as B-1, was carrying 68 passengers at the time of the incident. The coach was quickly detached from the rest of the train and its power supply was disconnected to prevent the fire from spreading.
Videos shared online showed thick black smoke rising from the burning coach, while nearby trees also caught fire.
Passengers from the damaged coach were shifted to other compartments. Officials said the train would continue to Kota, where a replacement coach would be attached and alternative arrangements made for passengers.
The 12431 Rajdhani Express had started its journey from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Friday and was scheduled to arrive at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station at 12:30 pm on Sunday. The train had travelled nearly 2,600 kilometres before the fire occurred, about 450 kilometres from Delhi.
