The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) issued the warning after an emergency virtual meeting on Sunday (March 1), according to Anadolu Agency.
In a statement, the GCC said Iran carried out drone and missile attacks targeting member states — the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman. The council said the attacks violate international law and the sovereignty of these countries.
The GCC warned Tehran that it will take all necessary measures to protect the security and sovereignty of its member states.
The statement also stressed that the security of GCC countries is interconnected. An attack on one member will be considered an attack on all. It added that member states have the right to respond under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which recognises the right to self-defence.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the war could continue for up to four weeks.
“This war could last another four weeks because the country is large. But no matter how strong they are, it will not take more than four weeks,” he said.
Trump also claimed that Saudi Arabia had joined the ongoing operation. However, Riyadh has not issued any official statement confirming this claim.
