Mehidy Hasan Miraz took four wickets and Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 42 as Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinbago Knight Riders by six wickets in their CPL 2026 match in Providence on Friday.
The win was Amazon Warriors’ eighth in nine matches this season and the 100th CPL victory in franchise history. It also strengthened their position at the top of the standings.
After choosing to bowl, Amazon Warriors restricted the defending champions to 126 for 8. Mehidy was the key bowler, taking 4 for 23 from four overs.
He struck twice in the fifth over, removing Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran with consecutive deliveries. The match was Mehidy’s second for Amazon Warriors since joining the team as a replacement for Mohammad Nabi. He has taken seven wickets for 36 runs in those two games.
Trinbago made a strong start, reaching 43 for 2 in the powerplay, but lost wickets regularly afterward. Justin Greaves top-scored with 35 off 37 balls, while Munro made 26 from 16.
Amazon Warriors began their chase steadily. They lost Mavendra Dindyal and Glenn Phillips inside the first seven overs, but Hope anchored the innings.
Hope and Shimron Hetmyer added 51 runs before Hetmyer fell for 28 off 19 balls, including three sixes. Mehidy was dismissed for two, but Hope stayed unbeaten and guided Amazon Warriors to 127 for 4 in 18.4 overs alongside Quentin Sampson.
The result left defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders at the bottom of the table with seven defeats this season.
Kieron Pollard also moved within one run of becoming the first batter to score 15,000 runs in men’s T20 cricket. He made 10 before being dismissed in the final over, taking his career tally to 14,999 runs.
