Eli Roth's New Horror Film "Ice Cream Man" Set to Release in August

Director Eli Roth, known for Cabin Fever and Hostel is set to release his most extreme film yet 'Ice Cream Man'. Actor Ari Millen plays the title character of a mysterious ice cream vendor who drives through a suburban town selling treats that turn children into violent killers.

Roth described the film as his craziest work to date, comparing its premise to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds but with children instead of birds. Fans who enjoyed the chaotic climax of the film Weapons, where children turn feral and may find similar thrills here.

Ice Cream Man will release on 6 August in Australia and New Zealand, followed by a 7 August release in the US, UK, Canada and Ireland.

Roth has built a reputation over more than two decades for blending old-school horror influences with modern practical effects, from Cabin Fever to Hostel and Thanksgiving. Ice Cream Man marks his most unhinged project so far to set in a picture-perfect suburban neighborhood where an ice cream vendor's treats spark terrifying violence.

In a recent interview, Roth discussed the long journey behind bringing Ice Cream Man to life and the influences that shaped it — including 1980s slasher classics, Italian giallo thrillers, vintage EC Comics and practical body horror. At its core that the film explores the loss of childhood innocence in a deceptively ordinary setting.
