Two Arrested in Rajbari with 11.5 Kg of Cannabis

Police arrested two alleged drug dealers with 11.5 kilograms of cannabis in the Urakanda area of Rajbari Sadar Upazila on Saturday, police said.

The suspects were identified as Md. Faruk Hossain, 42, son of Raham Malitha of West-South Philipnagar village in Daulatpur, Kushtia, and Md. Azmat Ali, 35, son of Uzir Malitha of Sirajnagar village.

Police also seized a battery-powered auto-rickshaw allegedly used to transport the cannabis.

Rajbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Uttam Kumar Ghosh said the suspects were allegedly transporting the cannabis from Kushtia to Daulatdia. Acting on a tip, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Soebur Rahman conducted an operation in Urakanda around noon Saturday and arrested the two men.

Police said a case has been filed and the suspects were sent to the Rajbari court.

The allegations have not been independently verified.
