Chattogram Students Win Gold at International Mathematics Competition

Bangladeshi students have achieved notable success at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge 2026, one of the international mathematics competitions for young students.

Competing against 2,285 students from 1,113 educational institutions across 40 countries and regions, the Bangladeshi delegation won a total of nine international medals—seven gold, one silver and two bronze.

The competition featured three main categories: Math Olympiad, Math Warriors and Math Master Mind.

Among the gold medalists were two students from Chattogram Al Hidaya International School—Daniel Hossain Ibn Mahmud, a first-grade student, and Mehjabin Islam Manha, an eighth-grade student.

Representatives from 25 countries, including ambassadors, diplomats, education officials and representatives of the organizing institution, attended the event.

Representing Bangladesh were International Olympiads Bangladesh founder and chairman Md. Tanvirul Haque, Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore Chargé d’Affaires and Trade Counsellor Lutfun Nahar, and Second Secretary Sheikh Md. Faisal.

Manha’s father, businessman Md. Morshedul Islam, said the achievement was a source of great joy for their family.

He thanked International Olympiads Bangladesh for creating an opportunity for students from Chattogram to participate in such an international competition.

“Competing alongside talented students from around the world will be an important milestone in my daughter’s academic and professional journey,” he said.

Tanvirul Haque said International Olympiads Bangladesh works with more than 50 international olympiad-organizing organizations worldwide.

He said the organization has been creating opportunities for Bangladeshi students to participate in international competitions in mathematics, science, English, informatics, robotics, artificial intelligence, innovation and other academic disciplines.

According to Haque, students participating through the organization have won numerous diamond, gold and silver awards in competitions held in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore.

He added that over the past year, Chattogram students have won 14 gold, nine silver and six bronze medals in international academic competitions.
