Jamaat Holds Rally in Jhalokathi Demanding Implementation of July Charter

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held a procession and rally in Jhalokathi on Saturday, demanding implementation of the July National Charter, improved law and order, and justice for those responsible for the July mass killings.

The rally, organized by the party’s Jhalokathi district unit, began at the Jhalokathi Press Club premises. A large number of party activists, supporters and members of the public from the district and surrounding upazilas took part.

The procession passed through several major roads in the town before returning to the Press Club, where participants held a rally.

Speakers highlighted what they described as the historical significance of the July mass uprising and called for the swift implementation of the July National Charter, stronger law enforcement and accountability for those allegedly responsible for the July killings.

They also called for unity to strengthen democracy, justice and citizens’ rights.

Among those who addressed the rally were Jhalokathi district Jamaat Ameer Advocate Hafizur Rahman, Naib-e-Ameer Advocate Aminul Islam and district Secretary Faridul Haque.

The speakers said the party would continue peaceful, democratic and public-oriented programs aimed at advancing what they described as the spirit of the July uprising.

A large number of leaders and activists from the district, upazila and affiliated organizations attended the event.
