


Working people have started returning to their villages during the four-day voting holiday surrounding the 13th National Parliament elections. This has increased the pressure of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail Jamuna Bridge highway. Meanwhile, the amount of toll collected on the Jamuna Bridge has increased.
In the last 24 hours, the bridge authority has collected 29,471,650 taka in toll from the Jamuna Bridge and 36,923 vehicles have crossed in the opposite direction.
Syed Riaz Uddin, Executive Engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Site Office, confirmed this on Wednesday (February 11) morning.
The Jamuna Bridge Authority said that 36,923 vehicles have crossed in the 24 hours from 12 midnight on Monday to 12 midnight on Tuesday. Of these, 23,989 vehicles heading to North Bengal have crossed. A toll of 17,494,900 taka has been collected. On the other hand, 12,934 vehicles bound for Dhaka crossed. Against this, a toll of 1.9 crore 76,750 taka was collected.
Executive Engineer of Jamuna Bridge Site Office Syed Riaz Uddin said that the pressure of vehicles on the highway increased from Monday night. Due to the additional pressure of vehicles on Tuesday afternoon, traffic jams were created on the highway intermittently. This morning, traffic jams were created due to the pressure of vehicles. Later, as the afternoon progressed, the movement of vehicles on the highway normalized. Now, vehicles are moving at a normal speed on the highway.
