After six consecutive hikes, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has cut gold prices in the local market.

The price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 9,214 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new rate to Tk 2,68,214. The revised prices took effect from 10:00am on Wednesday (March 4), according to a BAJUS notification.

BAJUS said the decision was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market and after reviewing the overall market situation.

New gold prices per bhori:

22-carat: Tk 2,68,214

21-carat: Tk 2,56,025

18-carat: Tk 2,19,458

Traditional gold: Tk 1,79,159

On Tuesday (March 3), BAJUS had increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 to Tk 2,77,428 per bhori. The latest cut reverses that hike and marks the first reduction after six straight increases.

So far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 37 times — increased 24 times and reduced 13 times. In 2025, prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 reductions.

Silver prices also reduced

BAJUS has also lowered silver prices.

22-carat silver: Tk 6,532 per bhori (down Tk 641)

21-carat silver: Tk 6,240

18-carat silver: Tk 5,365

Traditional silver: Tk 4,424

This year, silver prices have been adjusted 22 times — rising 14 times and falling 8 times. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times, with 10 increases and 3 decreases.
