Education Adviser Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that legal action will be taken against those involved in an alleged mob attack at a college in Bhola, Barishal division, where individuals reportedly demanded permission to cheat during an examination.
Speaking at an orientation program for new students at Gazipur Agricultural University on Saturday, Milon said authorities would review CCTV footage to identify those responsible for vandalism and disorder at the examination center.
He alleged that a group attacked the college, vandalized the principal's office and created unrest in an attempt to facilitate cheating during examinations. Those involved, he said, would face legal consequences.
"The government is committed to maintaining a fair examination environment," Milon said. "Activities that encourage cheating or disrupt the examination process will not be tolerated."
Addressing higher education, the adviser said many talented Bangladeshi students had historically remained abroad after completing their studies. He added that the government is working to create employment, research and innovation opportunities to encourage graduates to return and contribute to the country's development.
The event was chaired by Gazipur Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. G.K.M. Mostafizur Rahman. Among the speakers were Member of Parliament M. Manjurul Karim Rony, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, university faculty members and newly admitted students.
